Our man Hassin is circled enjoying the success of 2011 Linden Cup on New Years Day

2011 has only just started and our contract’s manager, Jonathan Hassin has already got the taste of a winning mentality to take forward for the rest of the year.

On New Years Day, Portadown Senior Men’s Hockey team picked up the year’s first trophy, the Linden Cup, by beating Cliftonville 2-1 on penalties.

After a combative 1-1 draw after extra time, with the pressure on, the final, taking place at Mossley Playing Fields went down to a nail biting penalty shoot out. That’s when Hassin stepped up and added his penalty stroke to contribute to Portadown’s 2-1 penalty win. Well done to both teams and congratulations to Jonathan Hassin and Portadown Hockey team on their success. Happy New Year indeed…

Irwin Group has the pleasure to announce that we will be seeking to improve our relationships with existing FM Partners and seek out new strategic partnerships with Facilities management and other companies by exhibiting at and attending the long awaited BIFM Conference in Belfast on Friday 5^th November at the Waterfront Hall.

The event program will cover topics such as Facilities Management in a creative environment, green issues and importance of energy management, and will include various guest speakers from across the UK who are big players in the industry.

This is a perfect opportunity for Irwin Group to further develop our main corporate vision of “Building Strategic Partnerships for Life” and we look forward to seeing you all at this exciting event and don’t forget to visit our exhibition stand.

Over 30 employees took to the challenge in aid of our chosen charities – Friends of the Cancer and Lisanally Special School.

The guys did a fantastic job on the day and the totals are now in accounted for. Congratulations to all who participated, for all your efforts have helped raised a tremendous total of £2,440. The sum being split equally between the two chosen charities.

Irwin Group have “kicked off” the rebranding exercise to coincide with the start of the new IFA Championship season, where Irwin Group have been chosen to become the new main shirt sponsors by Championships high flyers Loughgall Football Club.

Irwin Group has had a long standing partnership with the club and  John Irwin, founder of Irwin Group added to the sense of delight at an extension to such a successful partnership.

Over 30 Irwin employees recently braved the long and arduous Mourn Walk in aid of Friends of the cancer centre and Lisanally special needs School. Staring from Trassey track, leading to the challenging summit of Mount Donard, the welcoming finishing point was Donard car park Newcastle. 

John Irwin MD was delighted with the turnout “It’s great to see the commitment from the staff in taking their own time out to help give something back to the local community.  I would personally like to thank all those involved and I look forward to the next project”

All participants have made a great effort in raising money for the charities which are close to the hearts of some of the staff.  We look forward to seeing how much was raised leaving the participants ‘mourning for more’ treks like this!!

To be able to come through what was one of the toughest global recessions any of us have faced and receive this prestige endorsement speaks volumes about the loyalty and commitment to all our staff and senior management team.

Without the clear vision, passion, personalities, communication, continuous development, respect and trust being empowered from MD level right down to apprentices throughout the firm, this achievement would not have been possible.

A staff member had this to say about Irwin Group’s founder John Irwin, regarding the confidence shown in our staff over the past year or so: “The fact that John put the retention of all staff his first priority before he looked at other business strategies sent out the message that the most important thing in the company was us. With the hope that the worst of the economic downfall is fading behind us, Irwin Group will continue to show that we are not just leaders in the electrical industry but that we can continue to lead the way in empowering and developing our people for everyone’s potential to be realised.

Early this year, Irwin Group were successful in securing a £500,000 NI Housing Executive contract to modernise Multi storey flats in the South East area.

Fernadale, Parkdale, Riverdale, Whincroft, Coolmoyne, Rathmoyne and Kilbroney multi storey flats will all be undergoing modernisation and Irwin Group is proud to be involved in the replacement of landlord/ emergency lights. Replacing electrical switchgear, upgrading communal TV aerials, replacing booster pumps and electrical rewiring of all multi stories.

This project reinforces the quality Irwin Group continues to provide and this is supported by Northern Ireland Housing Executive choosing us for this major modernatisation in the Dunmurry/ Castlereagh areas.

Belfast Metropolitan College have chosen Irwin Group to carry out all electrical inspection and testing in all the Belfast Met colleges and facilities…so while the students are off Irwin Group will making sure the electrical installation is inspected and tested to appropriate standard for the safety of students returning in the new term!

Craigavon Borough Council have awarded Irwin Group a 3 year contract for the electrical inspection and testing to be carried out under BS7671 wiring regulations for all the council buildings, including the impressive civic centre.
